Thanksgiving 2010

We spent Thanksgiving 2010 in Montgomery, AL, with Susan’s family. We arrived in Montgomery the night before Thanksgiving. We went to Susan’s sister’s house for a short visit. The following thanksgiving2010day we drove to Maggie and Tom’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. All of Susan’s immediate family were able to make the gathering. We had a real nice time. The cousins spent time catching up with each other. I went on call Thanksgiving night at midnight. So we had to leave Montgomery that evening. We had a nice visit with Susan’s family even though it was cut short. Here is a photograph of the entire family.

Mardi Gras 2010

We enjoyed Mardi Gras in New Orleans so much in 2009, that we decided to go back to New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2010. This year, Mardi Gras fell between Susan and the boys’ birthdays. mardigras2010The weather was very cold in New Orleans for the parades. Our friend Maria went with us to New Orleans. Maria works with me. She lived in New Orleans for several years. She was looking forward to seeing some of the parades she saw as a child. We went to one of the night parades on Canal Street. The girls got cold and went back to the hotel room early. I stayed for the last parade of the night. During the parade I caught a mask, a deck of cards and a set of plastic cups. On the right is a photograph of at the Friday night parade.

mardigras20102On Saturday, we met mom at a day parade. Mom was watching Brian and Aaron for us. We all attended the Krewe of Endymion parade. The president of the New Orleans Saints was in the parade. Many of the parades were celebrating the Saints win in the Super Bowl. After the day parade, we headed to Bourbon Street. Maria met several of her friends that traveled from out of town. We enjoyed another Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans. The photograph on the left is Susan and I at the Krewe of Endymion parade.

Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 was another wonderful Christmas with for our family. On December 12, 2009, we attended the Fraternal Order of Police Christmas party. Many of my coworkers were at the party. When the party closed, most of us went to Seville Quarter to dance.

The week of Christmas we went to Montgomery, AL, to spend time with Susan’s family. We had a xmas20091very nice time. On December 22, 2009, Susan’s family got together at her mother’s house. We ate a big dinner and finished the night playing dirty Santa. We received some nice presents. The photograph on the right is of Brian, Aaron and their cousins in Montgomery. When we left Montgomery, we brought Susan’s mom back with us so she could celebrate Christmas at our house.

I was able to be off of work for this Christmas. I went around the house around 5am and woke everyone up. Everyone received xmas20092some very nice gifts. Brian received a new television. Both of the boys got a new Playstation 3. I got a painting of the Pensacola Bay area that I asked for. Susan received some nice boots that she had her eye on for awhile. After everyone was done opening gifts, Susan cooked a nice ham dinner. The photograph on the left is of Susan and I on Christmas morning.

Montgomery Visit

In the middle of July 2009, we went to Montgomery, AL, for the weekend. We wanted to visit with montgomery2009Susan’s family before school started the following month. Blue Angel Airshow 2009

On July 10, 2009, we went to another Blue Angel Airshow. Each year we look forward to the airshow at Pensacola Beach. We went by boat early Saturday morning. We met many of our other blueangels2009friends, who also went to the airshow by boat. Going by boat is much easier than by car. The beach traffic is usually backed up by 7am. Brian’s girlfriend, Brittany, went with us. Our niece, Nicole, also joined us for the airshow. It was her first time at the Blue Angel Airshow. Dan joined us for the airshow for a second year. The previous year was rained out, so this was actually Dan’s first time to see the airshow too. We blew up our water trampoline for the kids to play on. My foot was still wrapped from surgery in June. I could ┬ánot get in the water. A funny fact, was that for me to use the bathroom, Susan would have to push me to shore in an intertube. By the end of the day, Susan and I had the trip to shore downpacked. Here is a photograph of the three cousins, Nicole, Brian and Aaron.

Mardi Gras 2009

Mardi Gras 2009 was our first Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Susan and I have experienced mardigras2009Mardi Gras in Pensacola and Mobile, but never in New Orleans. So this year, we visited my mom in New Orleans on the weekend before Fat Tuesday. We went to one night parade and two Saturday parades. The parades were held on February 20th and 21st. Kid Rock was a celebrity guest of Krewe of Endymion. The parades were the best we have seen. The floats were well done. Tractors pulled the floats, instead of trucks. Susan and I also visited Bourbon street to witness the chaos of the after party. We ran into one of our Pensacola friends, Ricky. Here is a photograph of Susan and Brian at the Saturday parade.

New Years 2009

On New Years Eve, 2009, we went downtown to witness the first Pelican drop in Pensacola. Many cities have famous drops (like the New York City ball drop and the Atlanta peach drop). Pensacolanewyears2009 took after the theme by building a large lighted pelican to drop at the stroke of midnight.

My mom and Susan’s mom were able to join us. The festivities included dancing for the children. Several of the local mascots were at the party. At 8 o’clock the children lit the Pelican. We left shortly afterward. Mom watched the Pelican drop on television at midnight. Susan and I were out celebrating with friends at midnight.

Easter 2008

For Easter weekend, we went to New Orleans to visit with my mom and stepdad. The weekend was fun filled with a NBA basketball game, a crawfish bowl and church.

On 03/22/08, we went to our first NBA Basketball game. We watched the New Orleans Hornets easter2008defeat the Boston Celtics. The game was very good. The Hornets trailed the Celtics until the final quarter. Before the game, Brian and Aaron enjoyed playing during the block party. Jared from Subway was at the game. Can you find Jared?

On Easter Sunday we went to church with mom. After church, we had a crawfish boil near Lake Pontchartrain. We boiled 16 pounds of crawfish, cajun style. Several of the mudbugs tried to escape on us. Luckily Brian was nearby to recapture them! The boys and Phil also tried to fly a kite near the levee. The high winds turned the kite into an attack kite as it kept swooping downward.
