New Mexico

While we lived in El Paso, TX, we took advantage of many of the sites the area had to offer. During March 2002, we visited various sites in New Mexico. From mountaintops to alien towns, New New MexicoMexico offered some interesting sites. Our first stop was Cloudcroft, which is a village on top of a mountain. The village didn’t have much to offer, but the drive up was impressive. In fact, you can see just how large White Sands actually is. Cloudcroft was over 8,000 feet above sea level.

Our next stop was in Ruidoso. This town reminded us a little of Gatlinburg, TN. Here we stopped at the Hubbard Museum of the American West. The museum had a large collection of carriages used in the past. The boys enjoyed this stop the most since they could climb on horses and dress up in western wear.

Next we visited Roswell, to search out “alien hunters.” Lol, not much else to say about Roswell. We visited the International UFO Research Center. Their coke machines even had aliens on them. The photograph above was taken on the side of the road on our way to Cloudcroft. Click on the photograph to view the entire gallery.
