Western Caribbean Cruise

On July 30, 2005, Susan and I set sail on the Carnival Sensation in celebration of our 10th wedding anniversary. The five night cruise began at the New Orleans Port. The cruise went to the Western Caribbean. We stopped in Costa Maya and Cozumel.

Cruise 2005

This was the first cruise for us. The ship was beautiful. Susan and I had an ocean view cabin on the upper deck. We spent most of the days on the pool deck. At night, we enjoyed the entertainment shows and the dance club. At dinner, we dined with a nice couple from Memphis that was celebrating their 15th anniversary. I presented Susan with a new wedding band set to upgrade from the smaller diamond she received when I proposed to her in 1995. Susan also received a necklace and heart pendant. The diamond from the first engagement ring was later mounted into the heart pendant.

On the third day of our cruise, Susan and I arrived in Costa Maya, Mexico. Once the ship came close to land, dolphins swam near the front of the boat. Once the ship docked, we took off for the Jungle Beach. Costa Maya was a quite place that offered a bit of tranquility. Susan and I tried to ride the paddle boats and Kayaks, but did not do so well. In the paddle boat we went in circles and we overturned the kayak several times. So, we spent the rest of the day relaxing by the water drinking from the open bar.

On the fourth day, Susan and I stopped in Cozumel, Mexico. The Carnival Victory was docked in Mexico the same day. After briefly shopping at the port, we went to the Playa Mia Grand Beach Park. The park was similar to the Jungle Beach, but was much more crowded. In addition to the paddle boats and kayaks (which we learned to stay away from) there was a water trampoline and a rock climbing iceberg.

Cruise 2005The park offered an excellent buffet and an open bar. In Cozumel, Susan fell in love with pico de gallo. I fixed Susan plate and thought it would be something she would like. An employee came around with two parrots and offered to take your picture with them. After paying the well deserved five dollars, we took two pictures with his parrots.
